History of Univar
Originally known as Van Waters and Rogers, Univar USA began in 1924 in Seattle, Washington, under the leadership of George Van Waters and Nat Rogers. The company was founded on the tenets of customer service and product diversification - both of which still guide the company today. The first Van Waters and Rogers branch offices were opened in the 1930s, and growth has continued steadily since then. What fueled this steady growth over the years was adherence to a simple principle: doing whatever it took to solve customer problems.
The beginning of the "new millennium" saw more changes for the company. In 2000, the company changed its name to Vopak USA Inc. to align itself more strongly with its parent company, Royal Vopak. In 2002, under a strategic reorganization, Vopak was sold and renamed Univar USA. However, throughout these changes, the company's commitment to the pest control industry and customer service has been unwavering. Today, Univar USA operates 70 Pro Centers across the United States and in Mexico. In addition, its web site, PestWeb, is the industry's leading online resource - by a margin of 2 to 1 - for industry news and technical information. Industry support, customer service, knowledgeable representatives and the largest inventory of pest control chemicals make Univar USA the pest management professional's partner in success.
